"Biking to School, Restoring Smiles: Post-Flood Recovery for Students"

The recent major floods in Songkhla Province have caused widespread damage to homes and assets, particularly within the service areas of Wat Tha Yee School and Wat Phothithammaram School (under Songkhla Primary Educational Service Office Area 2). Most of the affected residents are low-income farming families living in low-lying areas.

After the water receded, it was discovered that "Bicycles"—the primary mode of transportation for students—were severely damaged. Long-term immersion in floodwater caused heavy rusting and malfunctions in braking and chain systems beyond repair. In many cases, bicycles were swept away by the currents along with other household belongings.

Target Areas: Affected students in the following 2 schools
Wat Tha Yee School :
176 Moo 6, Ban Tha Yee, Huai Luek Sub-district, Khuan Niang District, Songkhla 90220.

Wat Phothithammaram School :
Moo 2, Ban Pak Bang, Khruea Khao Long Sub-district, Khuan Niang District, Songkhla 90220.

Problem Statement & Solutions
Barriers to Education: Students without transportation must walk long distances in extreme heat or rain, leading to exhaustion, loss of focus, and frequent absenteeism. Financial Hardship: Parents struggling to restore their homes and livelihoods lack the funds to purchase new bicycles, adding to household stress. Mental Recovery: Losing personal belongings in a disaster impacts a child’s morale. A new bicycle serves as a "Recovery Gift," healing their spirits and motivating them to return to school. Sustainability & Discipline: We aim to solve the structural barrier of school access. Biking promotes physical health, responsibility for personal property, and environmental friendliness.

Transparency A clear selection process via the School Committee ensures that aid reaches those in the greatest need. With these challenges in mind, the Santisuk Foundation has initiated this project to provide high-quality, durable bicycles to students, restoring their educational opportunities and long-term quality of life.

Objectives
To provide immediate relief and assistance to students affected by the floods.
To ensure students have reliable transportation to attend school regularly.
To promote physical exercise and environmental conservation through cycling.
To boost the morale and encouragement of children in disaster-affected areas.

Project Implementation Steps
Coordination: Work with the Directors of both schools to identify and select the most vulnerable students.
Procurement: Select durable bicycles suitable for the local terrain.
Distribution: Organize a handover ceremony at the target schools.
Follow-up: Monitor the usage and condition of the bicycles 3–6 months after distribution.

Expected Outcomes
Students at both schools have bicycles for commuting, reducing the financial burden on their parents.
School attendance rates remain stable or increase due to improved convenience.
Students experience better physical and mental well-being through exercise and the support received.
